There are several Zulu beadwork items that are worn as anklets and/or wristlets. As before, these items are encoded with messages applicable to the individual wearing them - typically their feelings/moods or their tribal affiliations.
A series of beaded rectangles worn either on the arms as armbands or behind the wrists as gauntlets, in which case they are known as izingusha, or around the ankles as leggings, then called amadavathi.
