The
fallacy of the
rapture.
"
I tell you,
in
that night there shall
be two 'men' in one bed: the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left."
The word " rapture" , means " a state of being carried away with joy " (Webster's). It is true that the believers are going to experience a rapture when the revelation takes place. This rapture, is something completely different from what most 'Christians' have in mind. Most
'Christians'
believe that they are literally going
to disappear from
the
face of the earth when the
'rapture' takes
place. All
those who believe this are in for a rude awakening.
When the Son of
man came the first time, he said the following: " I tell you, in that night there shall be two 'men' in one bed: the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left." Does this mean that there will be literally two men in one bed ? Surely not. The word, "men" is in a different type setting, it is in inverted commas. This means the Son of man was referring to non-believers. He was saying that the duality is going to be taken away, at the time of the revelation. Natural man is a dualistic being, he has a dual identity. There is his true identity, which is suppressed, and then there is his false identity, which prevails as long as he remains deluded. Natural man is in effect two 'men', he is 'man' and 'not man', at the same time. When natural man is converted, the duality is taken away, and he becomes spiritual man. Spiritual man is not pure, however he is in a position where it is possible for him to be cleansed. Spiritual man is "bathed", converted, and all that is required is for his "feet" to be washed, so that he may be cleansed. |
